The ICDC Method
At ICDC, we believe life is like a long journey. It takes perseverance and a lot of skill to make it through. While we do not offer the answers to life’s journey, we do have a method that can help you accomplish your smaller journeys in life. Whether you want to go somewhere, learn something new, or accomplish a task, you can use the following patented six-step learning system to help you achieve your goal.
AIM – To get anywhere, you have to first decide what you want to aim for. It is important to be sure that you establish a clear, measurable goal that is achievable within a certain amount of time.
PREP – Once you have decided where you want to go, it is time to prepare for your journey. You will need to gain an overview of the exact steps you will need to take to reach your destination. This will require a bit of working backward from your goal both in terms of time (deadlines) and in terms of steps required. In this phase, we will break down our goal into mini sub-goals or checkpoints, the achievement of which will lead you to your goal.
PACE – It is time to set off. Now that you know the steps you will have to take to reach your goal, it is time to embark on your journey. When setting out to achieve a goal, especially larger goals that take a longer time to accomplish, it is important to pace yourself while you do all the work required to reach your destination. This phase will involve progressing towards your goal by gradually achieving all of the sub-goals or checkpoints you devised in PREP. You will complete each of the sub-goals in the sequence and in the timeframe set out in PREP.
PEAK – Now that you have set out on your journey, it is important to ensure that you stay on track. This is why it is important to have methods by which you can gain feedback to judge your performance and thus your progression toward your goal. This will let you know where you need to make adjustments to your approach. There are a few different methods by which you can benchmark your performance. Be sure to select benchmarks that are relevant to your performance. Continually assessing your performance will ensure that you reach the peak of your journey where you will gain what it is that you set out for.
FLEX – The journey is not over yet! Once you have reached your goal it is important to ensure that your result lasts. This is why it is important to reinforce what you have gained on your journey by forming new habits or practices. This is a crucial stage without which you may reach your goal only to lose what you have gained shortly thereafter.
FLOW – Now you have made it! Your journey is complete. You have set out to achieve something, planned the steps to get there, accomplished those steps, reached your goal, and ensured that what you have gained will last. Now it is time to freely flow in a new space.
